“ Such an old gem of a place! Excellent location on the water with excellent home cooked food at an outstanding price! Couldn’t eat all the food we ordered. Met some locals and saw lots of history on the walls!! Hole in the wall spot that’s a must see! ”

“ An Indian vegetarian delighted in a classic American tavern when I expected to find may be a salad or two. Beet salad 5*. Cold, perfectly streamed beets marinated in mint and some mild sauce. So fresh! Mushroom toast 5* is a must have. Easily one of the best things I have ever had. They grow mushrooms in their nearby farm. This dish is a large toasted bread piece, sitting on balsamic vinaigrette and loaded with a mound of finely chopped grilled mushrooms. I must visit pescadero just to have it again. The artichoke soup is meh for Indian tastes. I will try green chile soup next time. My partner ordered snapper and liked it but agreed that mushroom toast was the best. Finished it all with pumpkin pie. Love love love. Cute rustic appearance. Good and fast service although it was full. ”

“ It's been 30 years since I was here last. It's still unique and delicious. I came for the artichoke soup. It's just as delicious as I remember it. The staff was very nice and we had great service. We also had the best salad. Very yummy. And the garlic fries. Tons of garlic and delicious. ”
“ Food was excellent, service seemed disinterested, an historic building and a beach town feel, but don't let a few dirty corners keep you away. Everything we had was exceptional, but make sure you mortgage is paid it ain't cheap. Also they don't try to hide it but a 17% gratuity is added to the already high prices. ”
“ Stopping by Duartes is such a treat for us when we are on the coast. We come for the soup and fresh bread, specifically, but I haven't been disappointed in any other things we have ordered. We love the old bar. It makes us feel like we are walking into an old saloon. It literally feels like you've stepped back in time. Its really cool! Eating in the restaurant makes me feel like I'm eating in my grandma's kitchen. It has a certain smell that is earned over years and years of cooking. Its as if the wood paneling absorbed all the good cooking the kitchen has done in its years. The cocktails are fantastic and our favorite soup, the 50/50 artichoke, green chile combo is heaven!!! Its pricey, but its absolutely delicious. We will return as many times as we can and we hope they are around for years to come. ”
